AI Transcribe accessibility
AI Transcribe works with VoiceOver on iPhone, iPad and Mac, scales transcripts to your text size, and can be run from the keyboard on Mac. It records now and gives you a searchable, timestamped transcript afterwards; it is not a live captioning app. This page says what works, what does not yet, and how to tell us.
Updated October 18, 2026, for version 1.3.3.
What works
VoiceOver on recording and playback
Record, stop, cancel, play, pause, skip 10 seconds and playback speed all have spoken labels. The playback position reads as "1:20 of 12:45", and you swipe up or down on it to move through the recording.
VoiceOver in the transcript
Each line of the transcript is a button labelled "Play from" and its timestamp, so you can find a passage by ear and jump the audio straight to it. Speaker names have a "Rename" action.
Transcript text follows your text size
On iPhone and iPad, transcripts and notes use the size you set in Settings, including the larger accessibility sizes (a change shows the next time you open a transcript). On Mac, View > Bigger Text (⌘+) and Smaller Text (⌘-) scale the transcript, and ⌘0 resets it.
Playback from 0.5x to 2x
Slow a fast speaker down to 0.5x or 0.75x, or skim at 1.25x to 2x. The speed you choose is remembered for the next recording.
Speaker labels and timestamps
Every transcript says who spoke and when, in 32 languages. For anyone who cannot follow a conversation by ear, the record of who said what is the useful part.
Summaries, notes and chat
A one-hour lecture becomes a page of notes, a list of action items or a summary in one tap, and you can ask the recording a question in plain words. This helps people who find long transcripts hard to work through.
Caption files
Export a transcript as SRT subtitles on iPhone and iPad, or SRT and VTT on Mac, to caption your own videos. Text, PDF and Word exports are there too.
Keyboard control on Mac
Every menu command has a shortcut, listed below, so you can record, play, search and export without a pointer.
What does not work yet
We would rather you know before you download.
Not live captioning
The preview you see while recording is made on your device, is approximate and lags behind the speaker. The real transcript is made after you stop. For following a conversation as it happens, use Live Captions or Live Listen, built into iPhone and Mac.
Transcription needs the internet
The saved transcript is made on our servers, so you need a connection and, for recordings with private information, should know that the audio leaves your device. We make no medical, legal or compliance claims.
Only the transcript scales with text size
On iPhone and iPad, most other screens (the library, settings, menus) still use fixed text sizes.
Reduce Motion and Increase Contrast are not honoured
Some animations play even with Reduce Motion on, and some grey secondary text is lower in contrast than it should be.

Who it helps
- Blind and low-vision users who record lectures, meetings or interviews and want to find a moment by ear, or read the transcript at a large size.
- Deaf and hard-of-hearing users who need a written record of a lecture or meeting afterwards, with who said what.
- Students with note-taking accommodations, and anyone with ADHD or dyslexia who finds it hard to listen and write at once: record, then read the notes.
- People who type with difficulty, who can speak notes and get text back.

FAQ
Does AI Transcribe work with VoiceOver?
Yes, on iPhone, iPad and Mac since version 1.3.3 (October 2026). Recording, playback and transcript controls have spoken labels, and each transcript line can be activated to play the audio from that point. Some secondary screens may still have unlabelled icons; tell us where and we will fix them.
Can deaf or hard-of-hearing people use it to follow a conversation live?
Not well. The live preview is approximate and the full transcript arrives after the recording stops. It suits lectures, meetings and interviews you want to read afterwards. For live conversation, Live Captions on iPhone and Mac is the better tool.
Does it support larger text?
Transcripts and notes follow the text size set in iPhone and iPad Settings, including accessibility sizes, and View > Bigger Text on Mac. Other screens on iPhone and iPad do not scale yet.
Is it useful for students with note-taking accommodations?
It records a lecture from the phone on the desk and turns it into a timestamped transcript and study notes in one tap, in 32 languages, with translation into 46. Check your school's rules on recording lectures first.
How do I report an accessibility problem?
Email useaitranscribe@gmail.com with your device, the screen and what VoiceOver or the app did.
Tell us what does not work
If a button is not read out, text does not grow, or a screen is hard to use, email useaitranscribe@gmail.com with your device and the screen. We read every message.
