Where AI Transcribe is strongest
AI Transcribe is a native app for iPhone and Mac, one App Store purchase for both. On iPhone it records the room for up to two hours or imports any audio or video file up to three hours, including voice memos and WhatsApp audio shared into the app. On a Mac it records the call's audio and your microphone together, so both sides of a Zoom, Meet or Teams call land in the transcript and nothing joins the call; it offers to record when a call starts.
Transcripts come with speaker labels and timestamps in 32 languages with automatic detection. Then the 20+ AI tools do the work: meeting notes, action items by owner, a decisions log, a follow-up email, a summary, translation into 46 languages. Sign in with your email and recordings sync between iPhone and Mac, open in a read-only web library, and can be shared with a link that needs no account to view. Export is text, PDF, Word and SRT on iPhone, plus Markdown and VTT on Mac.
Choose it when: you record on your iPhone or Mac, in person or on a call, and the transcript is a means to an end (notes, action items, a message).

Where Otter is strongest
Otter's assistant joins Zoom, Google Meet and Teams calls on its own, transcribes live, labels speakers and shares notes with teammates in a workspace. If you would rather not have a bot in the call, its Mac and Windows desktop app records meetings without one. The free plan is generous for meetings, 300 minutes a month, but each conversation stops at 30 minutes and you get three audio or video file imports for the life of the account. Pro raises that to 1,200 minutes, 90 minutes per meeting and 10 imports a month.
Choose it when: you attend recurring online meetings, want a bot to take the notes for you, and share them with a team, including on Windows.
Where TurboScribe is strongest
TurboScribe is a transcription service that runs entirely in the browser: upload audio or video, or record from your microphone in the browser, and get the transcript back. There is no native iPhone or Mac app. Its strength is volume at a flat price: the Unlimited plan takes files up to 10 hours, which no other tool here matches. The free plan allows three files a day, 30 minutes each.
Choose it when: you transcribe long files in bulk at a desk, want one predictable price, and are happy with summaries rather than a set of meeting tools.

Frequently asked questions
Which is most accurate? We have not run a controlled test across the three. On clear audio all three produce usable transcripts; microphone distance, background noise and people talking over each other affect accuracy more than the choice of tool. Try a recording that is typical for you.
Which is best for interviews? For in-person interviews, AI Transcribe on an iPhone covers recording, transcript and summary in one app. For interviews over video calls, AI Transcribe on a Mac records the call without a bot; Otter can join with its bot or record through its desktop app. For a long recorded interview you only need as text, TurboScribe handles files up to 10 hours on its paid plan.
Do any of them work without a bot in the call? Yes. AI Transcribe's Mac app and Otter's desktop app both record calls without a bot. TurboScribe has no meeting integration; record the call another way and upload the file.
Can I use them offline? No. All three transcribe in the cloud, so you need an internet connection. AI Transcribe shows an approximate live preview on device while recording, but the saved transcript is made in the cloud.
